Russell at the double in Under 19s win

Andy Russell scored twice yesterday as our Under 19 side chalked up another convincing win, this time against Annan Athletic at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium.

The Under 19s top scorer hit his 25th and 26th goals of the season to help Brian Welsh's side to victory against a spirited Annan team.

Despite incessant pressure, the Border side kept our lads at bay for the first 41 minutes, thanks mainly to a superb performance from their goalkeeper.  But as soon as Dean Cummings and Andy Russell combined for the latter to find the net for the first goal, the result was never in doubt.

Three further goals arrived in the second half, during which our dominance continued.  Michael Scott got the second goal with a flashing near post header on the hour mark and it was followed up quickly by Russell who tapped in after Michael Travis' header had been stopped on the line.

Jack Beaumont rounded off the scoring with a well struck long range shot, the flight of which seemed to deceive the otherwise excellent visiting goalkeeper.

Livingston: Murphy, Naples, MacDonald, Travis, Downie (Donaldson 53), Aitken, Scott (Galloway 62), Cummings, A Russell, Beaumont, Brady (Easton 53).  Subs not used: M Welsh, Hurst
