Livingston 2 - 0 Albion Rovers

Livingston extended their lead at the top of the table on Tuesday night, with a deserved win over Albion Rovers.

The heavy pitch had passed an earlier precautionary 3pm inspection, and it was Livingston who got to grips best with the slippery conditions.

It took the Lions only five minutes to get on the score sheet, Liam Fox had a shot saved by Rovers keeper Derek Gaston, and from the resulting David Sinclair corner, Jason Talbot bulleted Livingston in front with a powerful header.

Rovers had a penalty claim turned down a minute later when Mark Pollock appeared to go down easily after a challenge, and the referee had no hesitation in waving play on.

David Winters nearly doubled Livi's lead midway during the first half, but his delicate lob rebounded off the post and into the grateful arms of Gaston.

Rovers nearly equalized in the 35th minute when Donnelly rose above the Livingston defence, only to see his header brilliantly tipped onto the bar by Roddy McKenzie.

After the break, Robbie Winters had a great chance to get his name on the scoresheet in the 67th minute, but his low drive flashed just wide of Gaston's left-hand post.

The Lions wrapped up the points in the 85th minute after hitting Rovers on the counter attack.

Substitute Kyle Jacobs swung the ball across field for his brother Keaghan and after showing some lovely control, he finished off perfectly to ensure Rovers went home empty handed.
