AN OWN GOAL from debutant Ewan Moyes sent Livi crashing to a second successive league defeat at Cliftonhill this afternoon.
Moyes was one of three debut boys for the Lions as boss Gary Bollan rang the changes in the wake of defeat at Berwick.
The young Hibernian defender made the game's critical intervention after 27 minutes when he seemed to misjudge the flight of the ball in the blustery conditions, and sent a looping header over McKenzie and into his own net.
It was a pity for Moyes who settled relatively well into central defence alongside Paul Watson.
He was joined in the side by Hearts duo Jonathan Brown, who slotted in at right back, and midfielder Stephen Husband who put in an industrious performance on the right flank.
Robbie Winters also featured as the first time as a signed player and he started brightly before fading a little in the second half.
Aside from the goal, Livi probably had the better chances over the ninety minutes but they struggled to establish any passing rhythm on a surface which was much improved from the Co-op Cup clash four weeks ago.
De Vita forced an early save from Rovers' keeper in the first half, but Livi's best spell came in the closing stages when Taylor sent a free header over the bar and Brown had an injury time shot beaten away.
Livingston: McKenzie, Brown, Talbot, Husband, Moyes, Watson, Fox, Hamill (Ke Jacobs), De Vita, R Winters, Halliday. Subs not used: MacDonald, Sinclair, McDowell
