Club Secretary Statement

It is with a heavy heart that I must advise of my decision to resign from the Board of Livingston Football Club Ltd. This is as a direct result of Mr Gerard Nixon’s attack via the media yesterday.

I would not normally make any similar public statements, particularly when a court case is ongoing; however he leaves me no option but to respond to his outrageous claims.

The aspersions he is casting are both derisory and defamatory. His accusations are unfounded and contain not a scintilla of truth. Let me be clear, I was not aware of any cash payments to any employees of Livingston Football Club until the issue was brought to the Board’s attention as a result of the Club’s investigation into Mr Nixon's supposed personal loan account.

My own personal and interest free loan to the Club was made in response to an apparent cash flow emergency and was done under specific terms with which Mr Nixon failed to comply. This loan was in no way linked to the arrangement agreed by the four original investors, which Mr Nixon is now attempting to claim is invalid, the outcome of which we are waiting for the court to decide.

In the meantime I will continue to serve, in a voluntary and unpaid capacity, as the Livingston Football Club secretary. I will retain also my role and responsibilities for Livingston 5 ltd.

Yours sincerely
Carolyn Sumner

In response, Chairman Gordon McDougall said  "I understand that Carolyn’s professional career has to take precedence, and thank her for all she's done for the club."
