The Bee buzzing for Africa

The face may not be familiar to some of our younger readers, but Livi legend Brian McPhee needs little introduction to a great many Lions fans.

“The Bee” as he was affectionately known graced the amber shirt between 1998 and 2001, helping us secure our famous Premier League berth, making 50 appearances and finding the net 28 times in total.

But Brian is heading for a very different adventure in October when he jets off to Kenya with African Adventures to volunteer his services on projects such as running water installations at a local school, orphanage visits and sports coaching.

“It's one of these things that a lot of people would love to do, and I have time off work in October and can't think of a better way I would like to spend it", Brian explained.

"I'm basically going over to do what I can. This comes at a cost of £1700 for flights, accommodation etc, and any extra money raised will be used to buy clothes, stationery and whatnot for the school.”

And you can help Brian in his challenge by making a donation through his online fundraising page: whatever you can spare as it all counts towards a very worthwhile cause.

We’ll update you on his progress in time for his departure.

Good luck Bee!
