Our Under 19 League Cup campaign got off to a losing start this afternoon, as we went down to a strong Hamilton Accies side.
Both sides contributed to an action packed ninety minutes which yielded seven goals and three red cards.
We got off to an excellent start, right back Taylor Black finishing off an excellent passing move inside the penalty area to open the scoring in the 13th minute.
Hamilton were rarely seen as an attacking force in the early stages but that all changed when they scored twice inside two minutes through Craig Johnston and Scott McMann.
They increased their lead with a third goal six minutes before the break, Craig Johnston grabbing his second of the afternoon.
The 3-1 half time scoreline was harsh on our side, but things got even worse as Accies' Craig Watson netted his side's fourth almost immediately after the restart.
Despite the three goal deficit, our team stayed positive and continued to produce good football. Accies' keeper Chris Shaw was called upon to make some good saves.
Connor McDonald pulled a goal back with a header in the 56th minute to give us hope of salvaging a result.
A fiesty game saw the referee send three players packing in a short spell - Coll Donaldson joining twice-booked Accies duo Gary Fraser and Aldin El Zubaidi in heading for an early shower.
Before the end, sub Jed Davie notched our third goal, but it was too little, too late and Accies took the points.
