Gareth looking forward to a return to action

Gareth Evans is looking forward to seeing his side return to action against Partick Thistle tomorrow after back to back postponements over the festive period led to an enforced two week break.

Second placed Partick Thistle provide tomorrow's opposition and given that the Maryhill side have taken maximum points from the season's two previous meetings, Gareth expects another tough game.

The Livi manager said: "It's a really big test for us given that they've already beaten us home and away this season, but they've been good games and we'll give it our best shot.

"Partick play good football so it should be a good game for the fans.  We'll not change the way we've played all season, and our results recently have shown that we've got a chance if we perform like we can."

Thistle saw their home game against Hamilton Accies called off on Wednesday, but they were in action last weekend when they were held to a surprise draw at Airdrie.

The Lions, meanwhile, haven't played since claiming a draw at Cowdenbeath just before Christmas.

Results elsewhere during the festive season would appear to have opened up the championship race with Morton taking over at the top, though the Greenock men crashed spectacularly at home to bottom side Dumbarton in their first fixture of 2013.

"It's been a frustration in as much as we haven't managed to get our games played after we've prepared and trained for them," admitted Gareth.

"Postponements can't be helped but we work hard with games in mind, so we're all looking forward to getting back playing.

"While we've been off, the other results have shown that any team can beat any other on their day.  Dumbarton's last couple of results have been excellent for them and have shown how competitive the league is.

"I think it's fair to say that the results haven't been a disaster from our point of view, but they'll only be good results for us if we go and win our games in hand."

Evans' injury concerns have yet to subside, although long term absentee Jason Talbot has now returned to training.

Keaghan Jacobs will be missing for the forseeable future after being diagnosed with a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament yesterday, while Paul Watson and Ross Docherty also miss out tomorrow.
