LIVINGSTON boss Paul Hegarty was pleased his side picked up their first three points in five matches against Ross County on Saturday, but was disappointed by the "complacency" shown in the second half.
The Lions roared to a 3-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from Armand One, Murray Davidson and Dave Mackay, but allowed the visitors to dominate the second period, allowing them to pull back two goals before Leigh Griffiths late strike sealed the victory.
"The match had a bit of deja vu after last week." said Hegarty, "We were 2-0 down against Morton and then rallied the troops and got something out of the match.
"This week we were 3-0 up and looking really comfortable. I told the players not to get complacent, but that's what happened. But we got the three points, and that's all that matters.
"The boys' attitude has been great. But when we're 3-0 up, it's about having the intelligence and the game awareness to do what's necessary. We could have kept possession better and made Ross County do the work in the second half, but we didn't.
"We went from the sublime to the ridiculous, really. In spells we looked good, very good in fact, and then in the second half one or two players became complacent and it spread throughout the whole team.
"Three points is three points though. It gets us back up the league table and it can still happen. There are still a few clubs that can win this league and we are one of them. But we have to do better, especially in the second half."
With the January transfer window coming to a close today, Hegarty is also looking to add to his squad in what he believes is a realistic push for promotion to the SPL. With three new signings - and three departures - during the window, the manager is happy with the support he has received at boardroom level.
But with press stories over unpaid wages in recent days, he admits what prospective signings read might put them off moving to the 'Vale, but says it would be their loss.
"I'm fortunate that I have been able to bring in Armand One, David Winters and Danny Griffin. OK, we may have lost James McPake, Rocco Quinn and Calum Elliot, but we've seen three come in for three. So I am lucky that way.
"But I would still like to strengthen the squad. The Chairman and the boardroom have been great in that respect. I would like to bring in another player before the window closes and we have someone in mind. Whether that happens is probably 70-30 against us.
"Maybe what the press have been writing about us might count against us. But if they are desperate to play football - and they want to play for Livingston and a club that is possibly going to the SPL - then it's up to them.
"Armand, David and Danny have come in without any issue, so if someone wants to turn us down because of what's being said, that's their problem. What has been said over the last few days doesn't concern me or the players, and it shouldn't concern anyone who is thinking of joining the setup here."
